We have recently learned that the Mooresville Public Library app will be unavailable until at least the second quarter of 2024. We apologize for the inconvenience that this has caused many of our patrons over the last few weeks.
For now, we recommend that our patrons delete the Mooresville Public Library app. While the app still appears to work in some cases, the information it shows is outdated and inaccurate. Examples of inaccurate information that the app is providing include: showing books checked out that have been checked in, showing holds as available for pickup when they have already been picked up, and not allowing patrons to search the catalog.
These issues are happening because the app no longer has the ability to connect to our catalog servers. We have included a statement from the company that provides our app at the end of this update that explains further.
At this time, we do not have a different app that can be used. If you are an avid user of the app, we would recommend bookmarking our catalog’s mobile site on your preferred browser. Please note that this issue is limited to the Mooresville Public Library app. Other library related apps, such as hoopla and Libby, remain unaffected.
SirsiDynix is the owner of your library’s mobile application. However, another vendor controls the access of the app. Unfortunately, they have unexpectedly disabled the app, rendering it inoperable. As an immediate solution, we are working with your library to enable mobile searching of the catalog via the library’s website. This allows many of the core search features of the mobile app to be available on your mobile devices. We have also been aggressively developing an entirely new, next-generation mobile app for your library. While it is not yet available for general use, we anticipate it will be ready in the next few months. This app will deliver the functionality you enjoyed in the original app, along with many new features.
We regret any inconvenience this has caused you. Please know that your library had absolutely no way of anticipating this situation, and we hope you’ll be understanding as we work through this difficult, interim period.
