BASIC REQUIREMENTS FOR APPLICANTS
- U.S. Citizen
- No Felony Convictions
- Must be at least 21 Years of Age
- Must have a High School Diploma or GED
- Must successfully pass an oral interview and background investigation
- Must successfully complete a polygraph examination
- Must successfully pass a physical, drug screen, and psychological evaluation
BENEFITS AND SALARY
- Starting Annual Salary $40,443 while in BLET (increases to $42,465 upon sworn status)
- Salary Range $42,465 - $66,413 (starting salary varies based on the applicant’s prior experience, education and training)
- Longevity pay each December $250 - $2000 based on years of service if all requirements are met
- Take home car (must live within 20 miles of contiguous town limits)
- Up to $4,000 per year for tuition reimbursement
- $240 annual gym/fitness center reimbursement (must go at least 4 times per month)
- 88-96 paid holiday hours per year
- 80-160 hours paid vacation annually, based on years of service
- 96 hours sick leave per year, accumulated indefinitely
- Medical/dental/vision coverage offered
- Law Enforcement Local Government Retirement System
- Qualifying sworn officers receive an additional separation allowance at retirement

- Patrol officers work non-rotating 12-hour day or night shifts with every other weekend off (3-day weekend)
