N.C. Severe Weather Preparedness Week

Are you prepared for the next major storm?

It is Severe Weather Preparedness Week in North Carolina (March 5-11, 2023). Mooresville Fire-Rescue & the Mooresville Fire Marshal’s Office encourage everyone to have an emergency plan in place before spring rolls around, which is the most active season for thunderstorms and tornadoes.

N.C. Emergency Management recommends:
-Developing an emergency plan so everyone knows what to do, where to go, and who to call during an emergency (at home and at work).
-Going inside when you hear thunder. It means lightning is close enough to strike you or nearby buildings!
-Knowing where the safest room is in your house, work, etc. It’s usually the basement or interior room away from windows.
-Having an emergency kit stocked – including 3-day supply of non-perishable food, bottled water, batteries, and other necessities.
