How is Vision Zero Different?
Vision Zero is a proactive approach to eliminating traffic deaths and serious injuries. Vision Zero aims to identify risk and take steps by designing a transportation system in a way that collisions won’t result in fatal or serious injury. The Swedish architects of Vision Zero said, “In every situation, a person might fail. The road system should not.” Residents should expect safe streets from their cities and towns, just as they do clean water or trash pickup. This requires strategic decision making as well as communication and education to generate collective action around the need for safer streets.
