KEY BOX REQUIREMENTS
Mooresville Fire-Rescue requires that key boxes be provided in accordance with the North Carolina Fire Prevention Code.

Section 506.1 Where required. Where access to or within a structure or an area is restricted because of secured openings or where immediate access is necessary for life-saving or firefighting purposes, the fire code official is authorized to require a key box to be installed in an approved location. The key box shall be of an approved type and shall contain keys to gain necessary access as required by the fire code official. Key boxes that are approved are by the Knox Box Company. We recommend the simplest box be ordered unless there are special circumstances, which can be discussed. The boxes can be ordered at www.knoxbox.com Once the order is received at Knox Companies and approval will be required by this office.

Mooresville Fire-Rescue does require a key box on certain buildings in certain cases.
