April is Volunteer Appreciation Month and the DAC, Recruitment and Retention Subcommittee is partnering with the Mooresville Christian Mission. The Mooresville Christian Mission, located at 266 N. Broad St., is a crisis center for individuals and families to seek assistance with financial hardships, food insecurities, and individual betterment. The organization has an ongoing need for volunteers to help in the following areas:
- Sorting
- Outside spotter
- Customer service with clients
- Stocking shelves
- General clean-up
- Assisting staff as needed
The days and hours scheduled for volunteers are Tuesday through Friday and are split up in 3 shifts: 8:30-11:30, 11:30-2:30 and 2:30-5:30. Volunteer assignments will commence April 13 through April 30.

Another opportunity this month to help your community is by participating in the North Carolina Litter Sweep campaign. We have been assigned to clean up N. Broad St., from W. Lowrance to E. Plaza Dr. on April 15 from 8 a.m. to noon, and on April 21 from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Gloves, trash bags, t-shirts and transportation will be provided. If you are interested, please fill out the VTO form and submit to your supervisor no later than April 9.
Please note that both of these volunteer opportunities are VTO eligible for applicable employees.
