Coronavirus Facts and Resources

Coronavirus Information

In order to keep the public informed, the North Carolina government has already begun to put measures in place to monitor, prepare for and respond to the disease. A COVID-19 Task Force was proactively established by Governor Cooper last month and it is in the process of collaborating with local, state and national entities to make response plans, while providing guidelines and assistance to healthcare providers and facilities and making sure residents have the facts they need to help prevent the potential spread of COVID-19.

COVID-19 is most commonly spread through respiratory droplets, and residents should take the same precautions that healthcare providers recommend in order to prevent the spread of the flu and other viruses, including washing your hands, avoiding touching your face, and covering coughs and sneezes. A fact sheet is available for viewing at (in English) or (in Spanish).

It is important to make sure the information you are getting about COVID-19 is legitimate and coming directly from reliable sources like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services. Visit the NCDHHS website at or find out more from the CDC at

Residents can also call the COVID-19 Helpline, toll free, at 1-866-462-3821 to have their concerns addressed. To submit questions online, visit and select “chat.”
